Promotion of Physical Activity and Healthy Lifestyles
collaboration between RiminiWellness and the QUVI Department of the University of Bologna – Rimini Campus
May 29 – 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM – Diotallevi Room 1
Non-communicable chronic diseases in Italy are constantly increasing, with various consequences including a rise in healthcare costs. Promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles is now one of the main challenges for both the healthcare system and society at large. Scientific evidence reliably shows that regular exercise, combined with a balanced diet and healthy behaviors, significantly contributes to the prevention and management of non-communicable chronic diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, and mental disorders. The conference aims to provide an opportunity for dialogue among healthcare professionals, public health experts, and institutional representatives, with the goal of sharing effective strategies, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and encouraging concrete actions in various community settings to foster the adoption of healthy behaviors.

Applied Sciences in Sport and Fitness: From Theory to Practice
May 29 – 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM – Health Arena Hall B3
From July 1st to 4th, 2025, 3,000 researchers and professionals from around the world will gather in Rimini for the prestigious ECSS Rimini 2025, the international congress on sport and exercise sciences. In the lead-up to this major event, the Universities of Bologna and Padua are organizing a high-level educational event focused on current topics in the field of applied sport and fitness sciences. The program includes three distinguished lectures delivered by leading figures in the international scientific community.
Professor Samuele Marcora will open the day with a talk on The Effects of Mental Fatigue on Sports Performance, exploring the interaction between mental fatigue and various aspects of athletic performance such as muscular strength and power, endurance, technique, and decision-making ability. Drawing on scientific evidence, the presentation will analyze the sources of mental fatigue in athletes, the mechanisms through which it can impair performance, and strategies for its effective management.
Next, Professor Sandro Bartolomei will deliver a lecture on Muscle Recovery Strategies After Resistance Training. His talk will provide a critical overview of the characteristics of resistance training that influence recovery time, along with the main recovery techniques—emphasizing their practical application in training programming.
Closing the event, Professor Francesco Campa will present Innovations in Body Composition Assessment, with a focus on methodologies used to analyze body composition in fitness enthusiasts and athletes across various disciplines. The session will conclude with a practical demonstration, giving participants the opportunity to observe the application of these methods in real-life scenarios.
This event is designed not only as a specialist training opportunity but also as an ideal preparatory step for professionals and researchers planning to attend ECSS Rimini 2025, one of the most important international gatherings in the field of sport and exercise sciences.
