Sarcopenia: exercise, nutrition or supplementation?
Sarcopenia is fought (also) at the table
Hall D5 - Nutri Lab Room
With the progressive aging of the population in Italy and worldwide, sarcopenia is becoming an increasingly pressing issue. Currently, its prevalence ranges between 10% and 30%, depending on the diagnostic criteria used to identify it, and it is continuing to rise, in step with the increase in average age and sedentary lifestyles. Our loved ones may also be affected, with negative consequences on life expectancy and quality of life. But what is sarcopenia? How can it be fought?
Nice to meet you, I’m Adalberto Codognola, a resident physician specializing in Sports and Exercise Medicine at the University of Padua. Whether you’re unfamiliar with the topic or already know something about it and want to learn more, I invite you to join me for a deep dive into the subject: together we’ll analyze the causes and mechanisms behind sarcopenia, the types of physical activities best suited to counter it, and we’ll place special focus on nutritional strategies to prevent and combat it!
