Fausto Faggioli

Designer and European expert in territorial marketing, rural development and cross-sector network building, engaged for over forty years in the enhancement of territories and local communities. In 1982 he launched the Fattorie Faggioli project, anticipating the concept of agricultural multifunctionality and contributing to the birth of a new model of rural economy based on the integration of agriculture, tourism, environment, culture and training. The project received recognition from the European Union as a pilot model of territorial development, becoming a reference for the creation of rural destinations and for the building of public-private networks oriented towards the enhancement of local identities. Throughout his career he has developed projects, strategies and training programmes at national and European level, collaborating with public administrations, universities, LAGs and private companies for the design of innovative models of territorial development. From 2008, his path took on an international dimension with the founding and presidency of E.A.R.T.H. Academy (European Academy for Rural Territories Hospitality). He is also president of the Rete Albatros and national coordinator for Rural and Experiential Tourism at IFTAJ. In 2020, the original project evolved into Borgo Basino and Faggioli Experience. In 2021 he received the Oscar for Territorial Enhancement. In 2026 he was included among the 100 personalities worldwide who have contributed to the creation of new models of rural development. Author of numerous books and publications on territorial marketing and rural development, Fausto Faggioli promotes a vision of development based on cooperation among the various stakeholders of the territory and on the building of sustainable local economies. His work is founded on a principle that has always guided him: transforming the territory from a place to visit into a place to live and share.
