Sergio Strozzi

Sergio Strozzi was born in Alessandria on 29 December 1972. He graduated with a law degree from the Università degli Studi di Torino in 1997 and, in the same year, graduated with a degree in organ music and composition from the musical Conservatory of Alessandria. He has worked in the private sector as an attorney. Following the Foreign Service public exam, in 2001 he entered the Italian diplomatic career with a specialization in commerce/economic affairs. After the first years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Rome, where he worked at the Directorate-General for the Americas, at the Unit for Visas (Department for Italians Abroad and Immigration Policies), and later at the Department for Human Resources, from 2004 to 2008 he served as Counselor for economic and commercial affairs at the Italian Embassy in Budapest, Hungary. From 2008 to 2012, he served as Consul General of Italy in Valona/Vlore, Albania. At the end of 2012, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and worked at the Department for Resources and Innovation, where his last role was as head of Office of Legal Matters. From June 2021 to August 2025, he was Consul General of Italy in San Francisco. On September 2025 he has been appointed Head of Innovation, Technology and Startups at the Department for the International Promotion of Italy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. He is in a civil partnership with Simone Mazzetto, who is an architect and designer, and he has a daughter, Caterina, and a son Matteo.
