Aurelia Scarano

Biography

After my PhD dissertation, I was trained and I worked for several years in the field of food biotechnology and nutrition. I currently work as researcher at ISPA-CNR in Lecce. My field of work focuses on the nutritional assessment and the genetic improvement of horticultural crops by both conventional and innovative technologies, aiming for the enhancement in bioactive and health-promoting plant metabolites. I also work on the local agrobiodiversity and neglected species subjected to the increasing genetic erosion for the possibility of rescuing and re-including them in our daily diet.
