Maurizio Leo has been Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance since November 2, 2022, in the government led by Giorgia Meloni. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies (for the fourth time) in September 2022 with the Fratelli d’Italia party. He is a member of the Bar Association and a Supreme Court lawyer, a position currently suspended. Since 2000, he has been a columnist for the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore. Since 2001, he has been a lecturer at the Guardia di Finanza Academy and at the School for Inspectors and Superintendents of the Guardia di Finanza, where he teaches in the Advanced Course of Tax Police for officers of the Corps.
