Mike Maric

Biography

Mike Maric is a Dentist, Specialist in Orthodontics, after obtaining a Master of Science, he became a Research Doctor (Ph.D) and then achieved a professorship at the University of Pavia. In his sports career, he was an athlete of the Croatian apnea national team with which he won the title of World Apnea Champion in 2004, as well as three consecutive national titles and two national records in two different disciplines of apnea. Following the death of a friend during apnea, he interrupted his competitive career to become a swimming, finswimming and apnea coach, eventually obtaining the title of European CONI Level IV Coach, as well as an Olympic CONI trainer in the area of medicine and sports physiology. He focuses his clinical and research activity on respiratory issues and more, working on performance enhancement through breathe training, specific apnea training, as well as respiratory problems in pediatrics. In addition, he is a professor of breathing techniques for the International Longevity Science Association, dealing with the correlations between stress, emotions and breathing in the field of antiaging medicine. Author of national and international scientific publications, as well as a speaker at various courses and conferences, he has written nine books. The documentary film Broken Breath, dedicated to his life, received the award for best film at the international Ocean Film Festival.
